Eddy Current

Eddy current (EC) inspections induces small electrical currents into an electrically conductive material via magnetic field generated by the eddy current probe. The currents generated in the part under evaluation are distorted by changes in the material:

Surface Hardness

Surface and sub-surface cracks

Material composition or alloy

These current variations distort the magnetic field between the probe and the part. The variations are then displayed for operator interpretation.
